Welcome to the
Shepherd Sugar Bush
Learn about all things maple syrup in the “sweetest little town anywhere around”…Shepherd, Michigan.
-

History
The Sugar Bush started in 1958 as a volunteer project with the plan to have the proceeds fund park and recreational activities in the community. In late February of each of the years since, the maples that line the Shepherd streets are tapped with approximately 2000 spiles and pails.
-

Process
Shepherd has a long history of maple syrup, starting all the way back in 1958. The tradition of tapping trees for sap and creating maple syrup, alongside other products, lives on thanks to the Sugar Bush Corporation. You’re probably wondering how they do it?
